Sunday School Ministry: Nurturing Faith and Character
A Sunday school ministry in Pakistan that grew from a concern for children in brick kiln communities and a desire that they would know the love of Jesus.
Our Heart
Growing Young Hearts Through God’s Word
Jesus made room for children when others would have turned them away, as Matthew 19:14 records. Those words remain close to the heart of our founder, Alyas Rafiq, who began Sunday school ministry among children in brick kiln communities.
We want children to become familiar with Scripture, to know they are loved by God, and to receive the encouragement they need to grow with confidence and hope.

Taking part is voluntary. No family has to attend Sunday school in order to receive humanitarian help. Read our draft child protection and safeguarding policy.
Questions
Questions From Parents and Pastors
What is the Sunday School Ministry?
It is ZAWF’s Christian ministry for children, which began among children in brick kiln communities. It centers on Bible learning, prayer, songs, fellowship and character.
Must children attend to receive help from ZAWF?
No. Humanitarian assistance is based on need, and it is separate from participation in any religious activity.
How can our church support this ministry?
You can pray, and you can talk with us about appropriate support for Bible learning resources and teaching materials through our ministry partnerships page.
What a Healthy Sunday School Needs
A children’s ministry is more than a lesson plan. If you’re a pastor or teacher, you’ll know that the trust of parents has to be earned. These are the standards we want our Sunday school ministry to keep growing toward.
Clear Boundaries
Attendance is voluntary, and parents or guardians should know what’s being taught. It’s kept separate from humanitarian help, so no family ever feels they must attend to receive support.
Safe Adults
Volunteers should be suitable, supervised and willing to follow our safeguarding policy. Nobody should work alone with a child out of the sight of others.
Teaching Children Can Understand
Bible stories, songs and prayer work best when they’re simple, joyful and suited to a child’s age. We want children to discover that they’re loved by God, not to feel pressured.
How Your Church Can Help
You could pray for teachers and children, ask about simple teaching materials, or share what your own children’s ministry has learned. Start with a conversation through our partnerships page.
Pray with us for these children
May they grow in faith, confidence and the knowledge that they are loved.
